WELDING TECHNIQUES FOR PVC WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE

1 - HOT AIR WELDING


- THE MOST COMMON TECHNIQUE USED TO JOIN PVC WATERPROOFING SHEETS.
- THE SHEETS SHOULD OVERLAP BY AT LEAST 50 mm .
- THE LEISTER TRIAC HAND WELDER IS USED FOR HOT AIR WELDING OF INSUWRAP MEMBRANES.
- THE HAND WELDER IS SUPPLIED WITH A 20 mm , 40mm WIDE WELDING NOZZLE AND 40mm WIDE
  LEISTER RUBBER  ROLLER.

  Stage 1 :  WELDING THE LOWER SEAM EDGE

BEFORE THE SEAMS ARE WELDED ,THEY ARE TACH-WELDED EVERY 2-3 m, WHICH ENSURES UNIFORM SEAM OVERLAP. WELDING IS THEN CARRIED OUT IN TWO PASSES. DURING THE FIRST PASS, ONLY THE LOWER SEAM EDGE IS WELDED TO PREVENT THE HOT AIR FROM ESCAPING DURING THE ACTUAL WELDING PASS.

 Stage 2 : WELDING THE SEAM 

AS THE HOT AIR IS BEING APPLIED , THE SEAM MUST AT THE SAME TIME BE ROLLED FLAT TO THE MEMBRANE EDGE USING THE PRESSURE ROLLER.

TERMINATION DETAILS

1-  PVC COATED METAL SHEET FLASHING
2-  INSUWRAP PVC MEMBRANE
3-  FLAT METAL DECK.

 

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CORNERS DETAILS

1-  ROUND OFF THE CORNER PIECE 
2 - FIT IN CORNER PIECE AND TACK WELD IN TO CORNER.
3 - COMPLETE CORNER WELD

 

2 - AUTOMATIC HOT AIR WELDING

- ANOTHER TECHNIQUE USED TO JOIN PVC WATERPROOFING SHEETS.
- THE SHEETS SHOULD OVERLAP BY AT LEAST 50 mm .
